We’re a dessert family. We try to not eat too much dessert, but often times, we just can’t help it. I like to make desserts and my family likes to eat desserts. It’s a match made in heaven… our pants just might not agree.
I’ve been experimenting with all sorts of waffle recipes. While I often prefer the savory waffles, my kids and their friends would rather eat the Birthday Cake Waffles, S’mores Waffle Sandwiches, Brownie Waffles, White Chocolate Macadamia Nut Waffles, and Chocolate Chip Cookie Waffles. They also love the more rich, buttery, stuffed waffles like my Reece’s Peanut Butter Cup Stuffed Waffles and Nutella Stuffed Waffles.
My latest dessert waffle creation might just be the all time winner though. The Milk Chocolate Pound Cake Waffles were thick, dense, rich, and so unbelievably amazing. They had a deep chocolate flavor, but never crossed the line of being too sweet. I wasn’t planning on eating a whole waffle all by myself, but I totally did. And it was totally worth it.
These Milk Chocolate Pound Cake Waffles start with a pound cake base which gives the waffles a texture that is to die for, a large amount of unsweetened cocoa powder gives the waffles a rich, deep chocolate flavor, and a hint of vanilla gives them a bit of sweetness.
The rest of the sweet, dessert lovers’ yumminess comes from the added milk chocolate chips, ice cream, and fresh berries on top of the waffles! My favorite milk chocolate chips are the Guittard Real Milk Chocolate Baking Chips. They are so good. I’ve also bought the Ghiradelli Milk Chocolate Chips and they’re great too!
Making Chocolate Pound Cake Dessert Waffles
When I’m ready for dessert, I’m ready for dessert. I hate waiting and I hate anything that’s complicated and takes forever to make. I want easy and fast — and that is exactly what this Milk Chocolate Pound Cake Waffle recipe is. Amen to that!
Be sure to preheat the waffle iron on medium heat. While the waffle iron is heating up, it’s time to make the waffle batter. In a large mixing bowl, beat the sugar and butter together until fluffy. Beat in the eggs, vanilla, coconut milk, and apple cider vinegar all at one time. Then add the cocoa powder, flour, salt, baking powder, and baking soda right into the same bowl, and mix on low speed until fully incorporated. The chocolate waffle batter will be very thick. Don’t get freaked out by how thick the batter is. Resist the urge to thin it out. It’s supposed to be thick.
Spoon the waffle batter into waffle wells, being careful to not overfill them. Cook the waffles for 3-5 minutes or until your waffle iron tells you the waffles are ready. When the Milk Chocolate Pound Cake Waffles are ready to be served, sprinkle them with milk chocolate chips, top with a scoop of ice cream, and add some fresh raspberries.
That’s all there is to it!
