Quick And Easy Macaroni Cheese Waffles

Macaroni And Cheese Waffles

Macaroni and cheese. Is there really anything eaten more by kids than mac and cheese? Maybe pizza? Who knows. All I do know is that kids eat A LOT of macaroni and cheese and when we recently made Macaroni and Cheese Stuffed Waffles, we also wondered:

Could we put the macaroni and cheese directly into the waffle iron to make macaroni and cheese waffles?

We made Spaghetti Waffles already. Macaroni and cheese had to work too, right?

The answer: Yes. Yes you can.

How To Make Macaroni And Cheese Waffles

Macaroni And Cheese Waffles takes the regular, boring, boxed macaroni and cheese, and kicks it up to a whole new level.

When you cook macaroni and cheese in the waffle iron, the exterior forms an awesome crust that adds just the perfect amount of crunchiness to the waffle. But the inside stays gooey and cheesy, just the way macaroni and cheese should be.

What makes these waffles even more delicious is the added salt and pepper, and the final light sprinkling of cheddar cheese (or cheddar jack cheese) on the top. OMG. So good.

How to Cook Macaroni and Cheese in a Waffle Iron

Making Macaroni And Cheese Waffles

The best part about using your waffle iron to make Macaroni And Cheese Waffles is that it’s easy.

Simply make the macaroni and cheese as directed on the box, adding a little salt and pepper to taste, and let it sit and cool for about 10 minutes while your waffle iron is preheating to a medium-high heat. Leftover mac and cheese straight from the refrigerator works great for this recipe too!

When the waffle iron is ready, pile on the macaroni and cheese in a big mound in the center of the waffle wells and close the waffle iron. Cook for about 3-4 minutes, or until the exterior of the waffle starts turning brown. You really want to be sure to cook the waffle enough that the exterior forms a solid, crunchy shell. This will ensure it doesn’t fall apart when you take it out of the waffle iron.

As soon as you transfer the Macaroni And Cheese Waffle to a plate, sprinkle on some cheddar cheese, and get to eating.
