My friend Julie Gallaher who owns Get On The Map and is rebooting the blog Sacramento Top 10, works with Sacramento companies to gain visibility online. She’s also started the #InstaYelpTweetASnap social media ambassador group to connect businesses with local bloggers and social media influencers. Natalie and I have participated in a couple InstaYelpTweetASnap events so far and it’s been a blast.
Last night Julie got a bunch of us together for opening night of the Broadway Sacramento WAITRESS premiere, including me, Natalie, Briana Aea, Chrysti Tovani of I Love Fair Oaks, Jessica Briggs, Diana Miller, Laura Good of Startup Sac, Peggy Good, and a few other awesome women!
We met up before the show at Amourath 1819 — the lobby bar in the Hyatt Regency — which has handcrafted cocktails, house-infused spirits, local beer, regional wine, and fantastic food! The service was quick and ambiance was great. Natalie and I had never been here before and we’ll definitely be back pre- or post-show in the future.
Then about 10 minutes before the show, we walked across the street to the theater, found our seats, and snapped some photos in the theater with the cute pie stage curtain in the background.
WAITRESS runs from December 27, 2018 through January 5, 2019 at the Sacramento Community Center Theater and there are tickets available at all price points.
If you’ve never seen WAITRESS before, I highly recommend you get tickets and make time to see this touring Broadway show while it’s in town. From the story to the music to the set, everything about this show is fantastic. Natalie and I were engaged in the heartwarming story from the very beginning, we shed a tear, we laughed out loud, and we cheered for the strong female heroine.
“A delicious tale that’s not simply about getting Prince Charming, but getting its heroine to take action and discover her worth!”

About WAITRESS
Brought to life by a groundbreaking all-female creative team, this irresistible new hit features original music and lyrics by six-time Grammy® nominee Sara Bareilles, a book by acclaimed screenwriter Jessie Nelson, choreography by Lorin Latarro, and direction by Tony Award® winner Diane Paulus.
Inspired by the beloved Adrienne Shelly film, WAITRESS tells the story of Jenna — a waitress and expert pie maker, Jenna dreams of a way out of her small town and loveless marriage. A baking contest in a nearby county and the town’s new doctor may offer her a chance at a fresh start, while her fellow waitresses offer their own recipes for happiness. But Jenna must summon the strength and courage to rebuild her own life.
Don’t miss this uplifting musical celebrating friendship, motherhood, and the magic of a well-made pie.
NOTE: The lead character in this show struggles with an abusive husband, an unplanned pregnancy, and an extramarital affair and the show has language and sexual situations that may not be appropriate for all ages.
